La sortie de son premier album intitulé Taylor Swift (2006) fait d'elle une star de la musique country.
En 2014, son cinquième album 1989 se place à la tête des ventes dans 78 pays et, après avoir battu le record de pré-commandes, s'écoule à plus de 600 000 exemplaires en 24 heures aux États-Unis.
En plus de sa carrière musicale, Taylor Swift fait ses premiers pas d'actrice en 2009 dans un épisode des Experts, puis au cinéma dans la comédie romantique Valentine's Day (2010). En 2014, elle joue la fille de Jeff Bridges dans The Giver.

Durant son enfance et son adolescence, Sam Smith place la musique au centre de ses préoccupations et de ses études. Il est notamment l'élève de la chanteuse et pianiste de jazz Joanna Eden.
